Winter Maintenance Tips for Forklift Lithium Batteries

Compared to traditional lead-acid batteries, lithium batteries offer unparalleled advantages. Forklift lithium batteries, with their short charging time, long usage time, stable performance, ability to withstand high-intensity operations, and high degree of automation and intelligence, have added new momentum to the development of the forklift industry.

The most critical factors for lithium battery storage are temperature and humidity. So, as the cold winter approaches, how should we maintain our forklift lithium batteries? Temperature has a significant impact on lithium batteries. The lower the temperature, the lower the activity of the lithium battery, which directly leads to a significant decrease in charging and discharging efficiency. Generally, the operating temperature of lithium batteries is between -20°C and 60°C. However, to fully leverage the advantages of forklift lithium batteries, proper maintenance and usage methods are essential.

       1.Charge Indoors, Avoid Low Temperatures:If indoor charging is not possible, make full use of the residual heat from battery discharge. Charge immediately in sunlight after parking to increase the charging capacity and avoid lithium precipitation.

       2. Charge as You Use, Shallow Discharge and Charge:In winter, the activity of lithium batteries decreases, making them very susceptible to over-discharge and over-charge, which can lightly affect the battery's lifespan or, in severe cases, cause combustion accidents. Therefore, it is more important in winter to charge using the shallow discharge and charge method. It is particularly important to note that you should not leave the vehicle parked for long periods with the charger plugged in to avoid overcharging.

       3.Keep Lithium Batteries Fully Charged in Winter:This can extend the battery's life. The battery should be fully charged before use. Occasionally not fully charging the battery has little impact, but frequently using the battery without fully charging it will create a "memory effect," affecting its range and also reducing its lifespan.

       4.Try Not to Park Outdoors: The temperature difference between outdoors and indoors in winter is significant. If conditions permit, it is best to park indoors.
